HOW I WORK

“If I can provide a certain type of relationship, the other will discover within themself the capacity to use that relationship for growth and change and personal development with occur.” —Carl Rogers

Perhaps the above quote made you think of a teacher that believed in you, a former boss who went to bat for you, or a plethora of connections that potentially held a lasting impact. For me, I credit my therapy style to the bond I have with my four-legged best friend (also certified Pet Therapy pup), Milk. Milk’s sniff-everything-in-sight approach is a daily reminder to remain curious, not judgmental, as it can be easy to convince ourselves that we don’t deserve good things because we believe we’ve done or said the opposite.

I genuinely want to know what you hold significant, from moments of injustice to the songs that have shaped the soundtrack of your life. I invite you and/or your partners to BYOE (Bring Your Own Expertise) on personal experiences and I’ll bring mine on the process of tailoring therapy to your needs. We’ll explore how you arrived where you are, identify the cycles you might be falling into, and co-pilot a path towards emotional health.

WHO I AM

I am fulfilling a lifelong affinity with the human psyche that has been fortified by my past lives as an athlete, educator, photographer, and crisis counselor. I earned a Master’s degree in Education from San Francisco State University, and a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from The Wright Institute. I served as a Text Line Supervisor at Crisis Support Services of Alameda County, while conjunctly volunteering with The Trevor Project as a Crisis Counselor to LGBTQ young people. I also completed an externship in Emotionally-Focused Therapy for couples and training in Crisis Counseling through the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

My affiliations include the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT) and the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT). Additionally, I am listed in the Kink Aware Professional Directory and Poly-Friendly Professionals Directory. I work under the supervision of Lori Torres, LMFT #1603 and seek regular consultation to ensure that the ways in which I show up continue to evolve to meet clients’ needs.

My lists below are not exhaustive, and issues are often interconnected, so feel free to contact me about your specific situation.
